fresh 48 prep

guide

A few notes and helpful tips before your Fresh 48 Session:
  • Fresh 48's are some of my absolute favorite sessions! I love them because I get to capture a very fresh baby and they are usually done within the first 24-48 hours of your little babe being born. I love these sessions because babies grow so quickly and these images you will have forever and be able to cherish them and to look back on!

  • The best time of day for these sessions are during daylight hours, usually anytime in the morning or between the times of 9am-3pm. This will give us the best lighting to get the best images possible and the happiest little babe!

  • Hospital lights are not my friend! They end up casting odd colors on you/babe which can leave your images inconsistent in color. I love to use the postpartum rooms natural light, especially by the windows ;)

  • While the main focus of these sessions is your little babe, we do want to get a couple pictures including mom, dad and any siblings that may be present as well.
  • Try and feed your little babe shortly before our Fresh 48 session time, if possible. If you are not able, please don't stress! Feeding your little babe prior ensures that your baby has a full belly and will hopefully be happy and cooperative for the session. I am more than willing to do feeding/nursing pictures as well, we can do that at the beginning of the session.

  • Keep the room temperature up if possible! Fresh 48 sessions are generally quick (under an hour) and then the baby will be much happier in a warm environment vs being cold and uncomfortable.

  • Wondering what you should wear? Anything that is comfortable! I have some moms that will stay in a hospital gown, and others that bring their own robe or outfit, just be sure the outfit is flowy so it is not constricting on your fresh postpartum body.
  • I always encourage parents to bring items for the little babe from home to incorporate into the session for example, swaddles, hats, headbands, outfits, etc.

  • I generally take a wide variety of pictures while I am there for these sessions, anywhere from focusing on all the features, hands, toes, nose, ears, to mom/dad holding baby, little babe laying in the bassinet near the window, etc.

  • Fresh 48 Sessions generally last anywhere from 30-60 minutes. These are generally one of the quicker of my sessions as I don't want to take that precious time away from you and your family. If you have a list or inspiration of some pictures you really want to capture.

  • With these sessions the turn around time for the entire session is generally 2 weeks, depending on my current work load. If it will be longer than the 2 weeks, I will be sure to communicate that with you. I do also send a couple sneak peeks out within 24-48 hours of the session.
